Complication of peritonitis developed in a 61 year old patient who was undergoing continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) and whose dialysate culture was negative for both aerobic and anaerobic bacteria and fungi. Despite the administration of various antibiotics and repeated mechanical lavages, inflammatory response and fever could not be controlled and therefore on the 8th hospital d...

Eosinophilic peritonitis is an uncommon clinical entity with diagnostic considerations separate from those of tuberculous peritonitis. We report a patient on continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) with eosinophilic peritonitis resulting from tuberculous peritonitis. Acid-fast stain and mycobacterial culture of peritoneal dialysis effluent were both negative result. In the peritoneal d...

Runyon group IV atypical mycobacteria, Mycobacterium fortuitum, is an environmental organism and is capable of producing a variety of clinical infections such as cutaneous infection, abscess and pulmonary and ocular infection. متن کاملFailure to cure Mycobacterium gordonae peritonitis associated with continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis.
Nontuberculous mycobacteria are increasingly recognized as important pathogens in peritonitis associated with continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD). Mycobacterium gordonae rarely causes human infection and is the least likely mycobacterium to produce clinical infection in CAPD patients. We describe a patient with persistent M. gordonae peritonitis acquired while undergoing CAPD. Duri...
